Maui artist Glen Rappold’s interest in art started in early childhood…
…but it wasn’t until enrolling in a painting class in college that his artistic journey really began.
Though Glen has also painted in oils and acrylics, for the past 30 years he has focused almost exclusively on watercolor. “I have always loved the transparency, vibrant color, and soft diffusion of color that watercolor provides, and for me, is the perfect medium for painting the beautiful land and seascapes of Hawaii!”
Although Glen has painted across the U.S. as well as in Canada, Mexico, and Africa, his favorite place to paint is right here at home on Maui. “For many artists, finding something inspiring to paint is their biggest challenge. That’s never an issue living on Maui- all I have to do is walk out my door to see beauty in every direction. There is no place in the world I would rather be!” Glen and his wife Jenny live in sunny Kihei on Maui’s south shore.
